Re: Yarra season close

Thought it was going to a hot day after the action in the first two pools and a number of similar looking pools ahead - but the next few brought nothing, which prompted the change up of lure cycle which felt neverending and non-rewarding with no more trout or indications of interest. So i was doing...

Re: Yarra season close

Hey happy what line is on your spin caster ? I just got my Daiwa 120 spincast / silvercast ( not the underspin model ) It came with line already on it out the box. I have no idea what breaking strain it is so I intend on changing it. I read somewhere it is preloaded with 12lb but I really don't kno...

Re: surf rod recomendations

Go with Bugatti's recommendation you can't go wrong, the Penn spinfishers will last years and are built like tanks, full metal construction !
My preference is the 650 - 750 size but each to their own, wash it in fresh water after every trip and it will last years ! did I mention it will last years ?

Re: Yarra season close

Having barely fished for trout this season (i think only 3 trips targeting them), season close pending, a spare day on the long weekend, good weather, a preceeding week with no rain, etc - decided to head out and give them a shot on the upper yarra - which i havent fished all season. Without said p...

Re: Bar crossing goes wrong

It's all about the timing, if you watch and count the sets coming through you will see a pattern, a lull ...when you see this lull it's time to go ! I've sat in the Narooma entrance watching and counting waves for a long time before taking off into the waves. Sure from a high vantage spot you can ma...

Re: BCF 20% storewide

Even with discounts BCF IMO are not competitive with other tackle store sales. I don't shop there as much anymore because of this.

Re: Electric outboards may be an option very soon.

I read that they are water cooled, that makes sense at those RPM's the electric motor would be running very hot. I wonder if a multi-speed gearbox would help ? I know they are in some electric motorcycles now. Also virtually no maintenance, the motor is brushless, just gearbox oil to change and the ...

Re: Spincast Reels

Strange this thread came up...I just ordered a Daiwa spincast SC120A.. I had one years ago so I'm re-living my trout spinning days all over again. Picking up a new trigger grip rod tomorrow.
