Re: My first Mulloway - OMG

Having pulled up a 3kg snapper on lighter gear on a charter and since seeing various fish to reference for size, I would estimate at least 5kg.

I must add, the charter snapper pales in comparison to the excitement levels. The fishing equivalent of painting by numbers.

Re: PUBLIC FORUM to discuss Commercial Fishing within Corio&

I'm surprised nobody has responded to this thread (Unless it is a repost?)

I've read a fair bit of negativity towards commercial fishing on the forum, so I thought people would leap at the chance to have their voice heard at an official forum!

Re: My first Mulloway - OMG

I've only been fishing for a matter of months and I already have a story of one that got away. I was fishing St. Kilda pier, maybe 3rd or 4th trip out alone. I was fishing alongside an Asian guy who I got talking to through very broken English. We were both pretty new to the sport, so I was happy to...

Re: Stuff that happens while fishing

This is a shameless repost from another forum (apologies if it's already been listed), but in keeping with the above story - remember kids, safety first on the water! There are some funny and tragic moments - particularly the closing dialogue where the bloke explains he has filled his yak with water...

Re: On the water for under 10k?

Cheers Sikko - may our boating dreams come true, eh! I'd be quite nervous buying a boat that is the same age as me though! Made in 1979 ;-) Maybe that'd be good luck!? I suppose I'd rather get a less fancy craft that was newer and more reliable. Regarding stability - what are the features you should...

Re: teenage newbie!

Welcome Chops! There are loads of vids and bits of info about how to hook Soft Plastics on the net. This one specifically might be useful? I reckon that offset worm hook is good, but you might want to just use regular hooks, so they can be used on other soft plastic shapes too... [youtube]nrAWbP-6p-...

Re: Stuff that happens while fishing

Caught my first fish (an undersized Pinkie) on Brighton Pier. Desperate to get it back in the water, I ran down the rocks, slipping on the slime. The fish took a nice high trajectory back towards the sea and I ended up balls deep in the drink. My hand was also cut to shreds from the sharp spines on ...
