Re: Cumberland River whiting - totally out-fished by the locals
Maybe they were silver whiting? They have no size limits. I've caught whiting on small 2" metal vibes before, slow rolled. Maybe give that a try next time. Thanks eddyt, pretty sure they were juvenile whiting. Long, thin, silver, with a few spots - see attached pic (from a fishing ID site, not my p...

Re: Whiting 22/12/2016
Any tips on location? I know everyone's keen to keep productive spots secret but without even a hint it's just bragging! I just had a fun whiting session down the Great Ocean Road on Dec 23rd, report (with Google Earth pics/location) here: http://www.fishing-victoria.com/viewtopic.php?f=160&t=17136 ...

Cumberland River whiting - totally out-fished by the locals
Spent 3 days at Cumberland River Holiday Park just before Christmas. Thanks to some tips on this forum, took the rod 'n' reel down hoping to catch some whiting. Tips I'd gleaned were: Fish last 1-2 hours of outgoing/1st hour of incoming tide Aim for gutters/channels where the whiting will be feeding...

Re: Flathead from bayside beaches
Cheers for tips I figure if I walk from the Westgate bridge to Sorrento I'll probably get at least 1 flathead, but would like to narrow it down a tad! May try Patto river thanks Gav. May also try around Mordi thanks Freakazoid. Any other location tips welcome (besides Brighton pier - I don't know if...

Flathead from bayside beaches
Hi all Now that the weather's fining up, I'm thinking about heading down the bay again. Have had bugger all luck from the various piers, despite following all of the advice on the forums. Repeated trips for donuts (or toadies/1 x banjo) to Station pier, Kerferd Rd, St Kilda and Brighton using squid/...

Re: Easter Saturday Corio Bay Landbased- better than PPB any
Thanks all Cunningham's on the to do list, but wanted to try the other spots first. Loads of people fishing/cars on Cunningham when I went past around 10am. Around St Helen's boat ramp also meant to be ok - may check next next trip This was another link I used - good info about fishing with SP's: ht...

Easter Saturday Corio Bay Landbased- better than PPB any day
Sick of the crowds and doughnuts in the bay, I made my first trip down to Geelong today to explore land based options around Geelong/Corio bay. Only had the morning off so had to cram in a few spots. A great find while researching online last night was the Geelong Fishing Show on 94.7FM, and replaye...

Re: 1st legal pinky at brighton breakwall!!!
Nice catch, Just curious, what bait were you using? I've been down there a bit lately, with pilchards, squid, and even tried a bit of chicken, only caught 1 ray and one small banjo. Can also re-iterate, don't go when the weather's fine. Was down there on ANZAC morning, beautiful sunny still day, not...
