Re: Gadgets for fishing - that your mates don't have?

Westvic - how does the Leatherman go in salt water or estuary areas? Is it all stainless? I believe it is stainless. I haven't dropped mine in salt water (yet) but have used it around salt water, dropped in sand and dirt, generally abused it and always cleans up fine and just works. Have also used ...

Re: Gadgets for fishing - that your mates don't have?

Thanks folks - there's some great suggestions in there.
Here's a couple of pics of my little bait boards in the tinnie.

Re: Gadgets for fishing - that your mates don't have?

Yep - very tight for space in the boat.
I can't believe how long they've lasted - well over 15 years since I made them and no running repairs needed in the meantime

Re: Gadgets for fishing - that your mates don't have?

I've made up what we call bait boards - (they are at my mates place, so I can't get pics) Made out of pine, they are custom made to fit the width of the tinnie's seat - and have a slot on the side to slide knives and pliers into, along with a little tray on top to hold sinkers or other tackle, and t...

Re: Gadgets for fishing - that your mates don't have?

Yep Ducky we have two anchors in the boat, but do you reckon I can teach the other guys in the boat how to do that ... they just don't seem to get it. Seems self explanatory doesn't it? But for some reason, they can't get the concept of letting out rope then pulling back on that once you're dropped ...

Re: Shrimp in the Glenelg?

Yeah we also used to get them in sawdust at the boat sheds in Warrnambool, way way back when I was a kid 40+ years ago.
Does seem weird, doesn't it?
I think the ones we got were more in small wood shavings, rather than actual fine sawdust itself.

Shrimp in the Glenelg?

Hi folks, sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't see any posts relating to this. Has anyone used shrimp in the Glenelg for bream? If so, were they from the river and what methods did you use to catch them? I've heard of a couple of ways, from using tea-tree branches to bars of Velvet soap. T...

Re: Gadgets for fishing - that your mates don't have?

Thanks Denis - we've got a few similar things already, but there's quite a few more suggestions for us.
Being in a 12 foot tinnie we are very limited on space (between 3 anglers) but we can give a few of these a try.
Thanks.

Gadgets for fishing - that your mates don't have?

A bit of an odd subject, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any unique gadgets that come in handy and your mates say that's a great idea? Nothing specific - just things out of the ordinary that work well. For us it's been little things like carabiners and using them with cable ties to hang things ...
