Re: SC knot vs FG knot. What do you use?
You're not going to win me over with a video of a guy tying knots sitting at his kitchen table. I want to see instructional videos of guys tying these knots on a surf beach in pitch darkness, with sea spray in his face and a 20km/h crosswind and his other rod getting bites while he is tying it. That...

Re: Marron? Really?
If you think KGW fishos are cagey about their secret spots, try talking to marron fishermen lol. They wont even tell you how to get back to the car park.

It's gonna be weird seeing two dozen bait pools drifted off Sorrento Pier on Sunday morning.

Re: Surf Fishing Info Please
Penn, Shimano and Daiwa all have lower end 12' surf rods that retail for $100 or less The rod you buy should have it's optimal casting weight printed on it. I usually use sinkers near the top of that range - when you get it set up, buy a few cheap sinkers of different sizes and try casting with each...

Re: Leather jackets, SE Melbourne anywhere?
I've found Flinders Pier to be really unreliable for LJ's. Sometimes the place is just dead. Sorrento Pier is my favorite LJ spot, but it's just as far away as Flinders. Mornington Pier always has a lot of very small ones Behind the Yacht Club at Canadian Bay is very snaggy but there is always LJs t...

Re: no fish at Portsea Pier lately ?
The water in the bay is still a little murky from the rain we've had in the last few days. On piers close to the sea, like Portsea, you'll notice that the water on the incoming tide is nice and clear but on the outgoing tide it is dirty. Don't bother fishing after high tide when it's like that IMO

Re: Help with Mornington gars
You don't need burley if there are other people on the pier throwing burley in, just park yourself right beside them and cast over their line.
