Re: Redfin at karkarook
when you say wriggler do you mean the curly tail grubs? also, what retrieve did you use?
Yeah mate, squidgy wrigglers, zman grubs, anything like that. Generally just hop hop retrieve with really long pauses. Vary it up till you find something that works, there’s no set in stone way. ...

Re: Redfin at karkarook

Haven't fished here for a few years but have caught reddies and rainbows on wriggler type sp's.

All caught along the red line shown below

As someone else has mentioned between the bridge and the small pier is also a popular spot, seen plenty of trout pulled there on powerbait

Re: who uses circle hook and what you think of them?

I've had trouble with KL's rusting in my tackle box compartment, even if I don't re-use them and put them back with the others at the end of the fishing session, the un-used ones still show signs of rust beginning. Killer whiting hook tho ! Anyone found this also ? I too have noticed the rusting is...

Re: carp around burwood

From what i've heard there are some good sized ones in there. The red circles show where i've seen them, although i'm sure you could find them all along t...

Re: Surf Combo Recommendation

That's a bummer! You're right it is quite fine, I did a bit of research on it first and those that have one gave them a pretty big wrap.

Re: Surf Combo Recommendation

Just thought i'd provide an update if anyone reads this looking for a similar kind of combo. I ended up going for 2 rods, a cheaper 12ft rod and a 10ft Wilson Blue Steel. The Wilson is an awesome rod and if you're looking for an inexpensive light surf rod, this is a nice option!

Travel will be by car so as long as its a 2 piece it'll be ok

Re: Surf Combo Recommendation

Honestly if you are going surf fishing that gear is too light and short. You need the extra length in the rod to keep the line out of the shore break as thats where most of the weed is. Great for spinning but limited to very calm conditions for bait fishing. That did cross my mind. I've got a spare...
