Re: Casting a baitcaster reel
Yeah, those under than $100 reels aren't that great, and can make learning so frustrating. Get a decent rod and reel and practise. Watch YouTube videos. Best in person with someone experienced. Once you get the hang of it, its fun to use compared to spin. What's your budget? And what will you be cha...

How old are they?
Some rubber doesn't last. They can dry, melt, or simply breaks. You can buy replacements

Re: Daiwa td black 4000 dc
I did purchase 1 for $198 delivered. I am yet to use it. I prefer the lower gear ratio or I would have bought another stradic I honestly don't understand shamano's fascination with high Ratio reels $198 for it, is a good price. My mate got one of them. Pretty solid reel.
If you could get at $200, it's worth it I'd say.

Oooh that's cool.
Pretty similar around Campbell's Cove. Gummy can be caught in like 2m water and mostly sand bottom.

Re: Heading out Kayaking - All welcome
Quick report, the squid weren’t very aggressive today. The calm water and lack of clouds probably didn’t help. Often saw 2-3 following my jigs, getting close then backing off then repeat often. The initial bite window was first light to sunrise, picked them up on the white yamashita, then the secon...
