Re: Opinions on new boat

I have the 510 Sea Spirit with a 90hp which I got as the kids like the cabin but I would go with the Fishabout as it gives more room at the back for fishing. The boat is terrific but the kids don't go as much as general fishing so the extra room at the back is probably better. The 5 m Quintrx has al...

Re: dennis I did it !

My first boat was a 420 Dory and it was a ripper. Such a sturdy package. It was good in PPB, Westernport and Port Welshpool as well as Bemm River and Lake Tyers. Enjoy. You will find some additional rod racks helpful as I always found them underfoot when under way.

Re: Inverloch/Andersons Inlet - This weekend 6/7?

That area you circled is fine to fish and very stable if you stay east of screw creek. You get there by driving all the way to though the caravan park and there is a small parking area in the dead end. The area is very popular for pumping nippers, which are a very good bait at Inverloch. You will on...

Re: Welshpool 8/6

Great report. Welshpool is my favourite place to fish and I have had a number of fun trips with quality gummies and flathead. Some of the local guys like Scoot H have been really generous with their local tips.

Re: Tough weekend on WP 18-19/5/19

I was out on Saturday around Quail and Tyabb bank and while the conditions were excellent the fishing was very slow. I did get a couple of very good sized squid at Tyabb but no fish at all at the top end, not even the junk.

Re: First boat - $5k budget

I bought my first boat for around $5k. 4.2m Quintrex widebody Dory with 30hp tiller steer. It was a ripper and I took it in both bays and Port Welshpool and had lots of good trips. I sold it a few years later for $4.8k when I upgraded to a new boat. I was trying to work out how much I like boating a...

Re: 9th & 12th. Smacking the Whiting

It was a great session, the best I have had since last summer. Shame I hooked a gummy on my whiting rod and not one of the snapper ones. Also not helpful that I drop my favourite rod overboard with slippery whiting hands. All I have to do now is have a great session and not be a klutz at the same ti...

Re: Quintrex Dealer

I just bought a new 510 Sea Spirit from Streaker marine in Bayswater and they had a great level of service. Maybe quality boats choose quality dealers.
