Re: KG fishing charters
Try Joe Farr fishing charters, pretty good experience with them and easy going guys. They are based in Blairgowrie but can arrange to be picked up from a nearby destination. Tell them you are after whiting and they will tell you the best time of the year to go with them.

Re: Kirks ramp
Does look good, not a fan of this ramp or Avalon as there is a lot of car break ins due to its quiet location.
Hopefully with land based fishing options there will be a few more people and will be a bit safer.

Re: Queenscliff Squid
Did a trip out of Queenscliff last week, caught my bag but nothing massive just the usual size.
I can confirm that the water clarity was sensational probably the clearest I have ever seen so that's a good sign for the health of our bay.

Re: Vintage rod found in hard rubbish
That's a nice find, looks pretty good condition too.
Those were good rods back in the 80s.

Re: Any sambos off the surf yet?
Spent Saturday down at apollo bay, lots of fish caught from the surf as well as rock wall.
I fished the surf and caught several fish most around the 40cm and above size. Well worth the trip if you want to get a few bigger fish.

Re: Surf Fishing Info Please
You should be able to pick up a decent rod for under $150 at a tackle store like BCF or Anaconda etc. Go for something between 12 to 15 ft with a line class of 15 to 24kg which will suit that reel you are using and general bread and butter fish you will be catching. I prefer mono over braid for surf...

Very lucky kids.....to have travelled that far and crossed the shipping channel and make it to the otherside of the bay. Lucky for them it was a incoming tide last night otherwise things could have been different. Glad they are all found safe and well.

Re: Barwon heads questions
I have been out through both Port Phillip Heads and Barwon Heads (not my boat) several times and I think Barwon Heads is safer. Port Phillip you need to cover a lot of ground to clear the danger area and even on good days it can be scary especially when there is water swirling around you. Not exactl...
