Re: Ebay win tonight bargain or POS

Was using Abu 7000"S last week and realised that my thumb was pretty much touching the spool immediately after casting. Must of been a habit I picked up after countless bird nests. Beauty of this habit is that fishing at night when you can't see your rig, enables you to clamp down on the spool BEFOR...

Portland Trip.

Gents, have been haunting this sight for a while now, finally got back from a week away at Portland. Rock and beach fishing primarily. Tried all sorts of baits, don't flick lures as a rule. Picked up a couple of nice salmon around 3 pound each. After the big blow, bull kelp was a major problem on th...

Re: Twenty Nine Mile Road Jetty-Point Wilson

Used to sneak in there in my 12 foot tinny many moons ago. Got some good results near the pylons. Got busted one day by armed security and was given a warning. Thing is, if they did open this pier to the public, the same thing that happened at Point Cook pier would probably happen.

Re: The Summer Curse

When working in the paddocks we apply diesel fuel liberally to our arms and legs, means a shower when you finish the job, but it works.

Re: Port Welshpool January LB

I used to fish that pier over 25 years ago. Back then you could drive out on to it. Used to get some cracking trevally just by dropping your rig down near the pylons. Also used to get heaps of Gurnard. Tailor also used to make appearances at times in huge schools. At night we used to fish under the ...

Re: HaHa SUCKERS!!

Slowly but surely fishos will eventually start copping it in the neck. Is only a matter of time before they will be treated like people such as myself who also enjoy hunting as a past time. A few fishos hunt as a rule, but most hunters I know are also keen anglers. Nothing like doing a combined trip...

Re: Alvey reels now expensive ?

Biggest problem with consumers these days is the obsession to shop around on price. It's easy to do, hop online and compare prices for the same product from Multiple Retailers , find the lowest price and then bust their balls by trying to get the product even cheaper. Guess it's human nature. Howeve...

Re: Alvey Sidecast surf combo.

I usually use 4 oz sinkers when surf fishing. So casting an Alvey with heavy sinkers can be challenging? Have used my 7000's for over 25 years and guess I am just looking for something a bit different that can also do the job. Anyone else on here have issues casting an Alvey with heavy lead?

Re: Alvey Sidecast surf combo.

Thankyou so much for your reply. Love my over heads but am looking for an alternative. I like the idea of a lever drag Alvey, have a couple of over heads with this feature and I find that it is just instinctive to use the drag as you need it. Am planning a trip to Johanna in the colder months next y...

Alvey Sidecast surf combo.

Hi, after some advice on a good combo for the Salmon and Jew off the beaches. At present are running Snyder 12 Foot rods with Abu 7000 o/head reels using nylon as I do a lot of rock fishing. Have never used an Alvey, but are looking for something that if I drop it in the sand or It gets seriously we...
