Re: Hook size for Whiting

Thanks Denis, I'm a passive fisho with bait (ie bait rod is secondary while I flick SP's) so suicides are the go - might just stick with the 1/0 KL, think they'll even be large enough for pinkies and flatties as by-catch. I’ve hooked up to 3x 4-4.5kg snapper at once with KL 1/0 hooks and landed all...

Re: Warmies. Where are the bream and Pinkies?

Where are the bream and Pinkies? In the water :rf: Yeah it's weird. Usually there's heaps of them this time of year, especially the small ones. I went to port melb few days ago and nothing. Was expecting those micro pinkies at least. The micro pinkies are at Frankston I was trying to get mackerel a...

Re: landbased whiting

Without giving away the exact location I was snorkeling some shallow reef the other day in mornington area and on the edge of reef where it met sand. 15m from shore I spotted a school of 100-150 whiting. Most in the 25-28 range with a few stonkers mixed in. Right next to a packed beach. Don't be af...

Re: Shallow water bronzies

G'day guys. Have started dedicating a bit more time to going for whiting. Small sharp sessions on a single tide and have been getting good results. I'm going to start bringing out 1-2 heavier rods to drop bronzie baits out the back. In the past I'd fished dedicated sessions chasing them in deeper w...

Cape Patterson/Inverloch fishing

I’m heading up to cape pat on the 16th I have read about whiting and salmon being up there and at Inverloch you can get trevally whiting salmon etc but I have also read that the current at Inverloch can be pretty hard to work with and the beaches are questionable weather or not your can fish any of ...

Re: Wpb by boat

Chasing what and from what boat? You can work the Hastings channel itself for flathead and whiting. Even if it's blowing 30 knots provided it's a low tide the banks are high enough to give plenty of wind cover. Otherwise head out the channel and find a nice bit of ground near the shipping channel n...

Wpb by boat

I have a friend that has a boat that wants to get into fishing and he wants to fish out of Hastings this means we would launch from there. Does anyone here have any general advice for fishing wpb by boat and even potential marks they don’t mind sharing because I have never really fished much in a bo...
