Re: 4 new outfits
Medium overhead, bait/trolling/jigging: Daiwa Demon Blood B56-6/8 ($389.99) 2-speed Talica 12 ($695.00) 65lbs braid How would this outfit go for Vic/NSW shelf fishing? A fair bit undersized for marlin, swords and barrels? the lack of line capacity for swords would struggle too? Carl uses the Talica...

Re: Repairable?
Strange for a Terez to snap there.
Bin it to be honest. You could get it repaired but it's not going to be the same and will be vulnerable to snap again on a decent fish.

Re: Best Surf Fishing Rod
Dougie said a really good point. Even if its light, the leverage ratio casting longer rod will still be more difficult. E.g. 12ft rod at 150gm casting 40gm lure/sinker, to me is still harder than casting a 9ft rod at 200gm casting the same lure/sinker. Cheers, this sort of info is exactly what I ne...

Re: Best Surf Fishing Rod
Is the shorter but heavier rod going to be more manageable than the longer but lighter rod? Sounds like the inertia generated by a longer rod is the issue. Yes. Having a weight on the end of it is a different thing to having an unloaded rod. I'm not sure how you'd even cast a 40g on a 13 foot rod o...

Re: Best Surf Fishing Rod
I've had a Messiah for 6 years and it never missed a beat. I freaking love this rod. Here it is on a metre of kingfish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X3pGRWLbEA&t=2s&ab_channel=Annaren BUT A longer rod will give you more trouble casting and fighting fish if you're not athletic or biomechanically ...

Re: Whats your dream set up?
Agreed with snapper snatcher. The cash is better spent on fishing than chasing super exxy gear. Unless what you’re targeting is going to break inferior gear. Pro tip. There ain’t many in Vic that are going to do it… I don’t mind splurging a bit but I can’t justify spending more then $350 odd on a r...

Re: Spooling my sienna
Could spool with 12lb Tasline for that much. The 50lb on my expo came off my old Gosa and is nearly 4 years old now. The 20 on my strad came off my bio and is 3.5 years old and both spools are absolutely fine. Use the calc to figure out how much you need and order it by the metre from Frank. There ...
