Re: Slide Baiting for Bronzies

The sliders get used to get a big bait eg 1 kg You could never cast that weight out behind the surf line. Take a surf rod you normally use put the sinker on and cast that, easy normal cast. Once thats done now you attach your slider with a big bait eg a 2 kg live tailor Place the live bait in the wa...

Re: Landbased eden

If you don't want to fish rocks but want to get away from the crowds Navy Wharf is worthwhile. Go have a look at the pulpit while you're out there, even if you're not fishing it's a stunning spot.

Re: Slide Baiting for Bronzies

Make sure you have a rod capable of casting some serious lead. We're using AFAW 6 and baits from busted fishing and 20k + sized reels with 80-100lb mono topshots.

We've had some great fun sliding live squid off a local rock ledge the last few years.

That bit of Schanck is waaaaaaaay freaking scarier than it looks in the photos, I actually got knocked off this exact spot in 2015. Not an experience i'm keen to duplicate.

Re: King spinning

Need to go bigger again  One thing with the kings, you might have better luck with a southerly, which will push all the bait and therefore fish in close to the rocks. Will make it harder to cast though..... You’ll get one eventually!! I've got a few of them just not this year. If you had ...

King spinning

Fished the scary side of schank today spinning for kings and floating a squid strip on the low tide / wind change. This location is a rock boots / life jackets / time your walk in and out kind of place. Zero action on the squid strip. Casting bigger stickbaits as per the previous advice from Scott I...

Re: Success but not the right kind.

The sluggos are best used unweighted or very lightly weighted. For where you are fishing and the gear you are using I think its going to be a bit hard. Unless ofcourse you have gear that can cast unweighted plastics a mile from the rocks.. I'd guess i'm getting 70ish metres on one. They actually fl...
