Then nearly died on the walk back out cos he'd brought 600ml of water and packet of twisties for a 20 hour trip.

Re: Landbased Wilsons Prom
I spent quite a bit of time hiking and rock fishing the Prom a few years back. You can read about / watch some of the adventures here. https://www.fishing-victoria.com/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=13175 https://www.fishing-victoria.com/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=14026 https://www.fishing-victoria.com/viewtopic....

Re: LBG at JB '23-'24
I finished work at 11am yesterday and got out to the same spot for some more. Pretty ordinary conditions found me in a crosswind with a bit of rain as I was rolling up to the ledge, soaked head to toe from the only shower of the day on the 30 minute walk in. I could see some bustups and I was climbi...

Re: LBG at JB '23-'24
Inspired by the weekends success, I returned the following Thursday out to the same spot in the rain. Messaging a friend of mine who fishes a bit from his boat, he agreed to meet me out there when he finished work. Pushing through the wet and heading out to the ledge about 3pm, I spent nearly an hou...

LBG at JB '23-'24
I know I don't post on here much anymore but I thought I'd try and write fairly regular reports about the LBG situation up here at JB. Watching the currents drift down the coast and the warmer water start to arrive, Cam, Sammy and I decided it was time to start putting in some significant effort off...

Re: Sabiki bait rig storage
I quite honestly just use a fresh one every time I go fishing. I find after a salt water session the hooks tend to blunt enough to make it not worthwhile for the little ones in particular. The larger 'slimey slayer' type rigs I cut down to only have 2 flashers then tie a flutter jig or a glow metal ...

Re: Going to Blanket Bay Campground, Fishing alone for the first time
Don't take newbies rock fishing anywhere west of Cape Otway. The shelf is uncomfortably close and the swell is extremely unpredictable.
Beyond what's already been mentioned, Johanna beach is as good if not better than Gunnamatta and the odd jewie even get's landed there around this time of year.

Re: What is the most important thing you'd spend $$$ on?
Actual fishing gear? Quality braid makes an absolute world of difference if you're casting lures land based. The difference between a Finns or Powerpro and a quality 8x weave like Tasline or more recently i've been using shimano grappler/ocea is staggering and will 10x your enjoyment of firing lures...

Re: Home & Fish and / or Camp & Fish?
I spent the almost a decade wandering around clifftops in Victoria and abroad, eventually found a spot I liked so much I moved here. I barely camp at all anymore, mostly because I have world class rock fishing at my doorstep and no need to travel long distances. I really really enjoy swag life, and...
