Great fish!
Size wise it looks like one of the recent stockings but it doesn't have the clipped adipose fin you usually see on those fish.

Re: Taponga River
Nice report!
I've got a bunch of red tags in my box but it's just not a fly I ever use. Gotta try them out.

Agree with all the above and they have a decent range of fly fishing/tying gear as well.

Re: Snow and rainbows
Nice report and pics! I fished up there a few times this winter, in what I thought were pretty chilly conditions but I never saw any snow.

Re: Redington Classic Trout Fly Rod
Nice review Truedogz, Redington are making some very decent mid range gear these days. I'm still using the Redington 6wt 9'6" combo that I bought a few years back when i first started fly fishing. I mainly use it on lakes these days as I've since picked up a nice 4wt for river fishing but it's still...

Nice report.
I was up there Sunday too, got a few in the 25-30cm range on the fly rod, all on nymphs.

Re: Fly fishing for flathead
Locating them has been my problem as well. In a river I can locate fish pretty consistently, lakes and open water not so much.sirsquidalot wrote: I was thinking that when i go out i might take the light spinning gear as well and do some prospecting with soft plastics, then switch onto fly when i've tracked em down.

Re: Fly fishing for flathead
I've tried it a few times but the most I've managed was a mullet.
I use an 8 weight rod with an intermediate sink tip line, allows the fly to hit the bottom in 1-2 metres of water pretty quickly.
Good luck, post your results

Re: Swimming SNAKE & PLENTY Of TROUT
Great video but holy ****, I've never seen a snake do that before! Glad I wear waders 90% of the time I fish rivers.
