Re: Any tips for Eppalock?
I was at the lake on Tuesday and it was like the tide was was rising . You could see the level coming up as you watched it. I was on an almost flat bit of ground and the water must have come up and covered 15 meters of land in a couple of hours. The. Ida creek was running so hard it would have made ...

Re: can I landbase catch flounder use sp?
I have caught flounder on sp and small hardbodies in nsw estuaries while targeting bream. I'm not sure they are the same species as ours down here They were not a common occurrence. Just a nice surprise when they came in. I have a friend in Perth who gets them on sp in the swan river, and in enough ...

Re: Carp on fly
carp on a fly rod are awesome to catch , if you want a fish that will pull and expose the backing on the fly reel that has never seen the light of day . I used to do a trip to NZ every year and to get myself back into the swing of playing big fish on fly i would go down to a muddy puddle and throw s...

Re: Wanted trout Lead core line combo
If you don't want to use an overhead reel a lot of people use a fly reel or a centre pin reel for the lead Line as they do not twist it like a thread line would
That way you can use a rod normally used for a thread line rather than getting one for an overhead

Re: Flatties on the Fly
The fly that I have had best results with is a chartuse closure minnow with weighted eyes to get it down to the fish . The only problem is the weight makes them harder to cast and that means the average 6# rod won't be able to cast to well. In saying that I normally use an 8# with a bonefish interme...

Re: Whiting troubles
I also fished the middle spit yesterday and didn't do well on the rising tide but did well on the ebb in 2 meters of water
We didn't do well till we managed to bag a squid or two for bait . As the old saying goes fresh is best and that proved itself yet again to us

Re: Powlett River
have done well there in summer with perch on surface lures and flies ............ but not sure with the fresh running through there atm and the cold water
it should at least push the bream down near the mouth and bass yabbies would be the gun bait to tempt the fussy fish in there
