Re: Malmsbury-Post lockdown trip-Redux
I've not seen a tench in the Malmsbury for a very long time. Roach, yes, but not tench.

Re: Owner circle hooks
I've not used Owner circles, but I have used the Mustad ones and I dropped a number of fish (mostly carp) before I got them to shore. I ended up moving to the Gamakatsu Octopus circle and I've been much happier with them.

Re: Any recommendation for the kayak fishing spots in Melbourne?
I am starting to see a few kayakers on the Upper Coliban reservoir if you are willing to drive out to Kyneton an hour or so away, but it does get chopping pretty quickly out on these lakes.

Re: Upper Coliban Reservoir Report
I went fishing at the Upper Coliban on Saturday morning and the water was high and clear (only caught a few reddies). The Coliban Water website has a reservoir levels page and I use all the time, take a look.

Re: Upper Coliban Reservoir Report
If you are after cod and yellowbelly, I'd keep away from the Malmsbury; it is chockers with carp and roach. Some big trout rising way out though.

Re: Malmsbury-Post lockdown trip-Redux
With plenty of leftover bait left from my previous trip and another free afternoon, I took another run to the Malmsbury on Saturday. In many ways it was a carbon-copy of the previous trip with another ten carp landed, but this time it was the scrub worms that did the damage rather than the corn. Fis...

Re: Malmsbury - Post lockdown trip
Thanks guys, it way a good afternoon fishing and great to get out of town. All the Kyneton lakes are nice and full, so there is plenty of water to go round. I was surprised that I was the only person fishing in the area and the only other person I saw was someone walking a dog. The Upper Coliban was...

Malmsbury-Post lockdown trip-Redux
I spent yesterday afternoon fishing the Malmsbury reservoir at Kyneton and it did not let me down. I got ten carp ranging from 30cm to 55cm and lost several others. As usual, corn was the best bait accounting for the majority of the fish, but the two biggest were caught on worms from my backyard. No...

Re: Coliban River 30/5/20
Even without fish its great to get out and fish again, plus I didn't know the BP at Carlsrue sells bait; thanks for the news. I saw that the Upper Coliban has had 20,000 Rainbows stocked recently, so there will be a wall of people there soon. I use to fish a hell of a lot where the Coliban river run...

Re: Back to the Upper Coliban
At least you got to wet a line :tu: What was the water level like? Water level's pretty good, 80+% full. I always use the Coliban water website to check the water level: https://www.coliban.com.au/about-us/reservoir-levels That corn is a good trick , , , , works on Bream too :tu: I've also caught R...
