Matt actually doesn't squid landbased so he wouldn't know that landbased fisherman rely on lighter gear etc.. To cast and cover the distances lol !

I think mornington would be a good area to start , Morington was also my first location that I bagged out on many years ago which I see a lot of guys using 1.5 -2.5 on drop sinkers but the more south you'll drive the bigger your jigs will get . At portsea or sorrento 3.0 -3.5 I would say but depends...

I think usually if you cast it further out and jig it back in it looks more natural but everyone at mornington uses drop sinker tie on a 1.8 or 2.0 jig I think people catches more with that

Blairgowrie is blocked off with boats , so I don't think it's fisherable
