Has anyone had a crack at the Hazelwood pondage lately....? or has it frozen over?

As an infrequent surf fisho i grabbed one of these at the camping and fishing show in Melb for $30.00 and i have to say its helped my sorry ass when casting from the beach for sure...i still have a bit of trouble dialing up the right resistance but it seems to work pretty well...Now i can cast right...
