It’s actually a hook and a sinker, the jig heads were all at home with the lures, so infact, I’m even more of a genius than previously credited :ft:

We thought it was a scad, although it was alot bigger than ones we've caught before, so wasnt sure.

Got down to st Leonard's late in the afternoon. Went to check out portarlington breakwall around sunset. My mate forgot his light setup, so he used a medium 7'2 and was casting slugs around, I used a light setup and fished small plastics and vibes to no avail. After a good feed at home (thanks mum) ...

Buy new leader.

And i'd be fishing heavier than 4lb if you're fishing for carp tight in the snags.

Only fished there once, was using bait. As soon as i'd set up the swans/ducks would start making there way over thinking they could score a feed. Moved a few times well clear of any birds, but they'd make there way over eventually. Spotted a few carp, a dead possum, and caught and released one duck ...

I use the cheapest bit of steak from coles for bait, throw out a few small chunks for burley. 9/10 they will swallow the hook, and once hooked they will try anything to snag you up, or chew through your leader. I use heavy mono leader, let them take the bait and then try keep them off the bottom/awa...
