Cowes Pier Sat 2nd November 2013
Just got back from a cracking weekend at Phillip Island. I hit the pier with my girlfriend, my sister and nephew, to teach my nephew how to fish. We got to Cowes pier about 7pm and on my first cast in I was on, with a 45cm Mackerel (I think?). As soon as I brought it in it seemed like the whole pier...

Re: Black Rock Pier
Cheers All. Thanks Wolly, I need to stock up on a surf rod. I've caught a couple of nice silver trevally on chicken before casting towards the old shipwreck.

Black Rock Pier
Hi All, Last night we hit up a couple of piers. First we arrived at Mordialloc at around 11pm to packed pier. It's been my first time there in a few years. Anyways it was doughnuts for everyone onboard, we were lucky to get a little nibble on squid. Next up hit Black Rock Pier. Just as we got there ...

Re: Lorne Pier Sunday 27th Oct 2013
Wow (@ Poodoo)!!! 2kg Squid would be awesome. I lost a squid that big at Newhaven pier after catching it on a lure while going for pike. (@drift100) I'm not sure how heavy my line was I was just using the stock nylon line on my Shimano, probably 6 to 8lb. Is braid better or nylon for soft plastics? ...

Lorne Pier Sunday 27th Oct 2013
Hi all, I hit up Lorne pier for the first time while taking a day trip down the Great Ocean Road. Conditions were very quiet that day, with only an Eagle ray pulled up. I got there to fishing the high tide at around 6pm. I was getting little nibbles on fresh squid, then I decided to go to the end of...

Same problem near the Docklands. Only a couple of bites today, no fish.

inlet river near Docklands
I decided to hit up the small inlet river at the end of Docklands Drive (near the Cavalia circus) from around 1pm - 3pm. I got a massive bite (probably a good size bream) at around 2pm but was busy rigging another line before the fish spat the hook. I've seen some other people fishing and just wante...

Re: inlet river near Docklands
Thanks for welcoming me to the site Jim, and thanks for all the responses  I was surprised at how long the freshwater yabbies stayed alive, previously they died pretty quickly when I was using them for bait at the Warmies a few years ago, but I think there was a lot of freshwater mixed in ...
