One reason i didn't go side console is due to the possibility of getting spray when weather is bad. Plus the boat is going to unbalance when on your own. Not by much but still would have annoyed me. Shimano already has an 8 ply braid they call Ocea and it's really pricey but also great to use and incredibly thin for the breaking strain. Daiwa make some of the best braid out there, even 12 ply braid, but they are very very expensive. these 2 braids are both brands cheapest available options atm...
