Re: What is the most important thing you'd spend $$$ on?
Actual fishing gear? Quality braid makes an absolute world of difference if you're casting lures land based. The difference between a Finns or Powerpro and a quality 8x weave like Tasline or more recently i've been using shimano grappler/ocea is staggering and will 10x your enjoyment of firing lures...

Re: Home & Fish and / or Camp & Fish?
I spent the almost a decade wandering around clifftops in Victoria and abroad, eventually found a spot I liked so much I moved here. I barely camp at all anymore, mostly because I have world class rock fishing at my doorstep and no need to travel long distances. I really really enjoy swag life, and...

MAN TO BE CHARGED FOR ILLEGAL ABALONE HAUL 92 times over than the daily bag limit which is 5 abalone per person. 420 of the caught fish were also under the legal minimum size of 10cm. Death by couta insertion. Tail first. Auction the right to lube him up then donate all the money to a marine conser...

Re: What should I spool a Saragosa 8k with to target land-based snapper and gummies?
Thanks guys, that was really helpful. Gone with the 50lb Tasline on this one and moved to 40lb on the Ultegra 5500 (with 30lb on the 4000) so I have pretty good coverage now. 30lb and 50lb fluoro leader options so I think I'm set. Appreciate your help. Any other piers in PPB a chance for kings? Thi...

Re: What should I spool a Saragosa 8k with to target land-based snapper and gummies?
Also, since I don't live there anymore and nobody ever actually did this with me other than Cam.... Grab a bait pool, squid sorrento jetty and keep some live squid alive, then drift them off the jetty on a low tide between 7 and 10 am. Rip the biggest shiniest popper you can back and forth around wh...

Re: What should I spool a Saragosa 8k with to target land-based snapper and gummies?
30lb tasline or shimano/daiwa if you didn't already have a 30lb option. 50lb tasline will do the job on literally anything you'll hook from the shore in Victoria Top shot it with enough mono that the braid will never touch the rocks / pier etc that you're fishing off, I would suggest 10ish metres jo...

Re: any one have experience with this spin rod?
Both Cam and I spun with the previous edition of the revo and it was excellent.
I had a look at the heavier version of that one as something I could break down and put in a backpack for climbing into spots. It seems like pretty good value for money but I haven't fished with one.
