Experienced person at Portland.
Hi all, have just picked up a second hand tinny, forward steer, 4.2 metres, 35 horse Evinrude, one elderly owner. Am also going to attach my 9.9 Evinrude to the transom as an auxiliary in case of main engine failure. Have done the bearings on the trailer and also fitted two new tyres as well, the ty...

Re: What's firing? Daylesford area lakes and reservoirs
Looking to do a kayak session for trout this coming weekend - out of the waters up that way that allow kayak access, what is currently providing either the most chance or best size trout opportunities? Right now looking at on of Hepburn lagoon and Moorabool; Upper Coliban; Lauriston; Malmsbury and ...

Have a week booked at Golden Beach in Gippsland in a few weeks. Can't wait! I do this trip annually and the prime focus is of the beach for Salmon. Am toying with dragging my 4.2 Metre tinny down as well this time to fish Victoria Lake at Loch Sport. Not familiar with the Gippsland Lakes at all. Is ...

Re: Botton bash.
Nice work - just out of curiosity, why do you reference depth using feet instead of meters? A good question. Old habits die hard I suppose. My sounder has always shown the depth in feet and because I am familiar with such, have never bothered changing it to metres. All the airlines still work in fe...

Went out yesterday from Port Arlington. Launched about 10.30 and returned about 3.00 PM. Fancied a feed of frog and did ok. We drifted In about 30 foot of water and managed to get 25 keepers between us. Reckon we returned at least that many that were undersize. Baits used were squid and pippy. Was w...

Re: Surf Rod for Beaches
High quality braid will be significantly thinner and get pushed around less by the water. Grapnel sinkers and puller rigs with single baits will help as well. Failing that buy a rod rated to cast 6oz sinkers. Yup, sometimes fishing Johanna you struggle to hold bottom even with 6oz"s of lead. Have f...

Re: Hooks.
Thanks again, appreciate all the feed back, I am also a very superstitious fisho so was just wondering if swapping hooks like I have been was just another thing I had to do to feel mentally confident I could get a feed. Funny thing is, if I don't follow my established pattern that I MUST follow, "or...

Re: Hooks.
Think a hook sharpener is on the cards. Have as suggested, already gone down in hook size thinking that it may help the situation. I was under the impression, "wrongly it seems", that you couldn't sharpen a chemical hook. Just has me bamboozled that generally a hook will last me all day in a boat w...
