40-50g is about the right size. Roosta poppers are pretty good, I use the Halco Outcasts you can get from Kmart too. Just walk the length of the beach casting your slugs at the water. It's probably the easiest kind of fishing I've attempted. No need for burley because you're moving around.

I wouldn't want to hook a GWS, but a thresher or bronzie would be good fun on the yak. Makos I'm a bit iffy about having heard stories of them going absolutely apeshit next to (and in) boats.

Yeah, there's always a few who are all "hi guys i'm new, btw i need a landbased snapper spot and whiting also thanks" that makes a bit of a mockery of the hard yards guys like Nude Up must have put in to accumulate their collections of secret spots.
