Re: Back in lockdown again.

Here is the other Blakely interview which is probably the better one as he gives more detail:

Re: Back in lockdown again.

This is what Toney Blakely is now saying: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-23/expert-says-victoria-should-consider-soft-lockdown/13509596 He was on the radio this morning stating that we can expect five to ten thousand cases a day next year in Victoria. As to the reasons he stated the same ones i...

Re: Back in lockdown again.

I know people are wondering how are we going to get out of this. Below is a link to an interview with Blakely on recent developments that will drive a change in thinking. Basically the vaccines while excellent at preventing serious illness are less successful at protecting infection with delta and e...

Re: Back in lockdown again.

Frozenpod, you can use this site to look at the types of vaccines and their usage rates in a number of different countries: https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations Go down to "cumulative number of doses administered, broken down by vaccine manufacturer" and then select the country. Re: Back in lockdown again.

Happyfriggincamper I suggest you have a listen to the interview with Dale Fisher. Most cases in Australia are now one of the Delta variants - Fisher makes the point that he hopes it stays that way and gives reasons. I get much of my information through professional sources and not the media. In Aust...

Re: Back in lockdown again.

4litres Singapore has done it. They have high vaccination rates now but back when they had vaccination rates similar to what we had now they managed to keep Delta down. Their program is largely overseen by an Australian, Dale Fisher. He has done a number of interviews in the media. There was one on ...

Re: Back in lockdown again.

To help people out with the fullest and latest information I have created this post. Won't be discussing it, just providing the information. I detect an air of despondancy in the recent comments posted, yes it is challenging times. Things are tough but they will get better. But we have to be realist...

Re: Corona virus part 2

I've been phoned by a friend about this thread so will respond. Purplefive, thankyou for the apology. My reaction was the way it was for two reasons: 1. The gravity of this situation. The government has to decide how many people to die versus how many jobs to save versus social unrest. No one has ha...

Re: Corona virus part 2

I am busy working on my truck and have just finished listening to Neil Mitchell interview Prof Tony Blakely. I hope 3AW creates a link on their website so that people can listen to it. If you can please do so. Summarising what Tony just said: 1. We have done better than anyone thought and, for the m...
