Re: Suggestions for minor fiberglass hull repair

Sounds like you only need gelcoat repair.

I have used septone before with great success.

Re: SC knot vs FG knot. What do you use?

I like it a lot.

I found it much easier to tie than FG when rocking around on a boat.

I still like improved albright for very light FC leader.

Re: What should I spool a Saragosa 8k with to target land-based snapper and gummies?

For 8000 size reel I would use 50lB braid. The topshot would be good when going after kings and tuna but I wouldn't be using it when going for snapper etc just use FC/mono as part of your rig.

Re: Boat battery, what’s the difference?

Up to you, there is increased risk of faster battery deterioration and increased risk of battery failure.

It is not a huge increased risk so way that up with the cost.

Re: Boat battery, what’s the difference?

2nd battery is essential. 95% of boat break downs is caused by a flat or failed battery which is super easy to avoid by having a 2nd battery. Marine batteries have thicker lead plates which makes them stronger and less likely to break/crack due to vibration. Certainly worth having a true marine batt...

Re: Snapper anglers reminded to know their limits

Who on earth would keep a 28 anyway.? There's bugger all on it... Yea mate we don't keep anything under 35 Bream used to have a size limit of 26cm in PPB and plenty of people would keep them. Essentially the same fish in terms of structure and meat as a pinkie. If you cook them whole there is a lot...

Nice video, brilliant for your first.

I would suggest trying having the camera mounted higher if possible.

I towed a caribbean cobra 5 meter boat with a early 2000 forester.
Had to sit on about 80 ks where car would cruise, if I tried to sit on 100 ks, car would drop back down a gear n rev up all the time..
Exactly as it should.

Re: New boat option

What is your tow vehicle? Subaru Forester unleaded. I think the diesel versions have up to 1,800kg.. Nothing wrong with the motor the same motor can tow 2000kg in the Outback. The limitation is the brakes, chassis and suspension. For weight comparison the Haines Hunter 495 is 1100kg empty on traile...
