Re: Cobram/tocumal area
Just wondering if someone can give some pointers on this area? Regarding the water level and water clarity? I’ve never fished this area but am looking at going there for a week next week. Is there plenty of good camping areas and banks to launch boats off easily enough? I really appreciate any advi...

King River
Yesterday arvo I spent a few hours fishing the King with lures. I planned to fish into the dark with surface lures, but was still tired from the previous all nighter so I decided to come home on dark. Sections of the King have recently been affected by the heavy rain up that way a while back. A numb...

Boof Boof Boof!
Many years ago I used to surface fish the Goulburn River at night for trout. The strategy was to lure fish during the afternoon, taking note of where the backwaters were, and fish the backwaters on the return journey at night. It was a great way of targeting the bigger trout - my best haul was eight...

Last week I planned to chase blackfish in Gippsland but the high temperatures scared me off and I went up to the high country chasing trout. This week I again aborted my blackfish trip due to the showers in Gippsland which bring out the leeches in some of my blackie spots. So I headed north and chas...

Re: First Time Kayaking ever! - Ovens Murray Cod Report
Locked down drag kept it out of the snags and a short fight later I had my PB cod! There was some water on the lens and the Photograph was hazy, but you can see my smile! It sounds like you chaps had a great time despite the rain. I couldn't get out there on the weekend as I had to work, but headed...

Re: Skinny water bass
A good effort Alex. Eels can be aggressive - I don't like removing them off hooks as they remind me too much of snakes. My contacts tell me more and more bass are turning up in the Latrobe Valley thanks to the stocking program which puts them within an easy day trip of Melbourne. It is only going to...

Re: WANTED! OLD RABBIT TRAPS
There are some on ebay at the moment going for reasonable prices ie around the 30 dollar mark growing up in rural Victoria trapping rabbits and the occasional fox paid for all my fishing gear Hey Paul, what about ferrets, did you have them? I can remember the old blokes having ferrets in their coat ...

Re: Is braid absolutely necessary for soft plastics?
I don't have any trouble using mono with SP's, it's all in your heads, cheers davo Braid is absoluteluty NOT necessary for lure fishing of any kind. Plenty of people caught all the same fish we catch today on lures before braid even existed. It's a preference thing. Braid comes with its own problem...
