If's a question with a lot of answers Dennis. In Westernport, I use a couple of 10-12kg rods, (one is an old Abu Suveran I've had for donkey's years). Not nice when it happens, but sometimes, there's just bugger all you can do about it.
Clobbered one while driving Doug's Patrol up to JB last November. 3.30 in the morning, doing 110km/hour up the Hume.

Never really targetted them specifically, but have caught them on a variety of smaller metals. soft plastics, x-raps and the like.

Looks similar to our recently deceased cat, Fat Demon, (though the rest of the family named him Mister Mestophloles).
He was 7.5kg, and a big powerful bugger with it.
