Re: Fish ID?
Could be a Hairtail fish or an Oarfish. That or a deformed face couta. Either way looks like good gummy bait.

Re: Shimano Jewel
I own a revo, it's a solid rod but bit heavy compared to other rods in its class. I also own the maikuro II and can say it is a much lighter rod and I've battled Sting rays the size of your car bonnet on it and it held up. The revo in my opinion is better for bait fishing than lure tossing. Each to ...

Re: St Leonards Snapper - 11/19/2022
Solid report mate, nice pan size pinky. I was there yesterday arvo and I couldn't get a spot, it was packed and I got told off by a few for trying to throw a squid jig between them. Only landed 2 small squids before I pulled the pin. I've never seen the pier with fishos on both side back to back al...

Re: what's the weirdest thing you have found or seen while fishing?
A couple of times driving my boat in PPB after dark I have encountered bioluminescent algae which has a strong yellow/green glow as you drive through it which was pretty freaky. I've encountered something similar fishing off a surf beach at night and saw bright blue glowing algae appear on the surf...

Re: what's the weirdest thing you have found or seen while fishing?
Intensely followed by a small group of quite large wild dogs for a km or so. By yourself in bum f#$% nowhere without reception makes the rear end tense a bit and cut short my after dark mission knowing they were around. The couple of goats that I'd seen earlier weren't around again the next day and...

I saw a small sunfish swimming around Cunningham pier one, at first I thought it looked like a big fish head just swimming around which shocked me but upon closer inspection it was definitely a small sunfish. Looks realy cool

Re: St Leonards Calamari - Very quiet 23/9/2021
Hey everyone, Quick post sharing two sessions fishing at St Leonards, 22/9/2022 and 23/9/2022. Fished the morning full sun afternoon Thursday, then fished the overcast Friday morning. Both sessions were really unproductive, caught one squid, then two squid the next day. Conditions were perfect, cle...
