Bait fish down there quite a bit when I’m feeling lazy and couldn’t be bothered walking the beach. If i’m going for distance, i’ll leave a foot or more of line.

If I’m going for accuracy, then just a couple of inches and keep my casts flat.

Just a word of caution, Gunnmatta can be a scary place to fish when the swell is up. Waves can reach right up to the back of the beach.

Wonderful report Adrian. Congratulations on a stunning fish and what a way to fishing the season!

That mix of exhilaration, apprehension and anticipation when you hook a truly big fish really gets the heart rate going!

I might get in touch with Tackleworld...I dropped a fair bit of coin in their store while I was there so they owe me!

FYI, I live in Patterson Lakes so getting it to either Moe or Bairnsdale still leaves me with a bit of problem but thanks for the offer.
