Re: Doughnuts on the jewies again!!
Deepest sympathies. I did the RAAFs beach thing religiously for two full seasons a few years ago. I caught heaps of rays and assorted nuisance critters, but not once did I get a run on anything that resembled a jew (I would've been more than happy with a gummy or anything quality and big). I used fr...

Re: Sunglasses
It's already all been said, but I'll offer my 2c. About 15 years ago I paid $300 for a pair of Maui Jim glass lens wrap around sunnies. All the components were excellent, they were able to be tightened if they got loose. They lasted 2 years before they were stolen. I got exactly the same pair on ins...

Re: Ban commercial fishing in PPB
I walked close to an hour in waders with two surf rods, rod holders, a back pack of tackle and warm clothes, and an esky (on wheels) full of bait (and, let's be honest, 1.5 six packs) through some roughish terrain last night to finally fish a spot that I'd been eyeing off for years for a full 7 hour...

If u don't mind me asking ,what kind stance did you have I.e left or right foot forward, side on or straight on when casting :haha2: lol nice catch :Bar:  Gold. I usually try to exhale while casting and then co-ordinate my breathing with the action of the jig  …but then I haven't c...

Re: Alvey 6500bc-v series
Telec, I own the lever drag version of this (and two other alveys)…love them to bits. A cheap but good option (I've hauled in a few decent salmon off the rocks as well as unwanted lumps/rays) is the Wilson Surecatch Big Field 2 piece 13'-6" rod…I got mine from BCF for a decent price. It will handle ...

Re: What to do in the meantime...
@bayman: lead sets pretty quickly, it also melts fairly quickly once the ladle/saucepan gets hot…but initially it takes me 30 minutes to get anything happening. @Omer: not on any I've made. I use 80lb minimum, I even used fencing staples once. @CarlG: Yep! haha - that's why I did the first few batch...

What to do in the meantime...
So Szero25 and I can't head off fishing for another week or so, so the question was raised: what to do in the meantime?
The answer was melt lead and drink belgian beers...

Re: distance casting
When actually fish ing (lures or bait) there is more to consider than competition/distance casting in terms of practicalities such as weather/wind conditions and weed. In practical terms, for surf and rocks my vote is for braid every time. It took me 6 months of frustration and messing around (shitt...
