Re: Boof Diary 2019

Hi Will let me also add my pleasure that you are back with us and congratulations on the great fish. When I lived in Bunyip in my teens areas of the Bunyip River (even around the Highway Bridge) like in your pic had plenty of good sized Blackfish - hopefully they will re-populate quickly. Am still s...

Re: What’s Your Fishing Resume?

I somehow lost my first post so fingers crossed. When I was starting Grade 4 we moved from Melbourne to a very small dot on the map called Dixie - just South of Terang. The Mount Emu Creek was just down the road and I noticed that there was always a school of Redfin under the bridge. I convinced my ...

Re: Don't hesitate, dial 000..

Hi Adrian Your advice about not waiting to call out for help is really important. I had chest pains when exercising and flew to South Africa and had it checked out - was not good news so returned to Australia the following week for treatment. At least these days most artery and vein blockages can be...

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TROUT LURE?

Nothing like a quiet day topic but in my younger days my lure of choice was a Flopy. They came in several colors with grey and mustard the most common. They were particularly deadly when there were a lot of frogs around. They floated and you just had to give a nudge or two to make ripples and wait (...

Re: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TROUT LURE?

Another interesting lure from the past was the Devon - even with a keel on the line a major problem was line

Re: Black Point, Bugatti Style

Hi Bugs aside from Port Wakefield - battered Garfish and chips from the Ardrossan fish and chip shop was always a compulsory stop during my Black Point days. According to the rels Whiting have been mainly small and hard to come by the past year or two. Gars, Tommies and crabs etc have been OK though...

TASMANIAN GIANT FRESHWATER CRAYFISH

Here is one for Adrian (MeppsTas) to answer. I was just watching an episode of Jeremy Wade's Dark Waters and, apart from the usual "unreality" reality TV, they were in Tasmania and managed to find a couple of Giant Tasmanian Freshwater Crayfish - one about 1 kg and another about 2.5 kg. They even ca...

Re: TASMANIAN GIANT FRESHWATER CRAYFISH

Hi Adrian thanks for the info and story. I read that there is a place called Lobster Ponds Haven that has managed to breed some but am unsure if it was a deliberate breeding program or just the result of having a few crayfish together in a pond. When I was at high school we used to catch a few Glene...

WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL THING YOU HAVE REELED IN ON A LURE?

A rainy day post for fishy stories. Am sure we have all reeled in weird and wonderful things on lures. I was spinning in the Coliban River when I felt a slight tug on the line and then nothing. During the next retrieve a large Rainbow Trout started going crazy and beached itself. Not to look a gift ...
