Re: Inverloch/Andersons Inlet - This weekend 6/7?

Don’t, very soft sand, rapid tidal flow. There are good fish in that channel, but access the one halfway back to the boat ramp where it comes in much closer to the beach. That big sand bar is excellent for pumping bass yabbies however, which are your best bait option in the inlet. Very worthwhile so...

Fairhaven salmon.

So Saturday’s forecast demanded a plan, I figured I could fit in both surfing and fishing if I played my cards right. But I would have to look beyond Torquay to escape the crowds. Packed board, wetsuit, new fishing outfit, bait, chair, and a few furphys..., and headed west! Stopped at fairhaven, bea...

Clifton Springs today

Beautiful boating day, glassy all day, mild and not too cold. Headed out off Indented Head to start, heaps of flatties, but no bigger fish. Worked back to Portarlington, for a few more flatties and one economy sized Leatherjacket. Few undersized pinkies rounded out the day. Whiting here remain an en...

Great conditions, no fish...

First outing off Torquay in a while. Beautiful conditions, but fish were scarce. Started off Bells, deep then closer, trolled back to Torquay, zip. Moved further down off Breamlea to some very likely looking schools on the sounder only to find they were economy sized blue throat wrasse, striking loo...

Flatties save the day..

Launched at Clifton springs with half of the Bellarine. Motored out off indented head in prime conditions fishing a range of baits..., for just flatties... Back to portarlington, same flatties, handful of undersized pinkies, and three nice looking silver whiting sent back as livies, but no interest....

Re: Flatties save the day..

Around the old shipping channel, which is just outside the current one, lots of boats fishing this area too. Underside pinkies competed hard for those pippy baits though...

Torquay tour

With my brother in law over from WA we lucked in with a day off Torquay, probably the only day you could reasonably get out over Christmas/new year, on the 29th December. Approximately 9.30am launch into glassy conditions, and we were at the artificial reef with another half dozen boats in 5 minutes...

Clifton Springs 19th Nov

Friday off = quiet boat ramp, luxury of being the only one launching at 7.15. Still extremely shallow harbour entrance, the 4.75 stacer bottomed out and dug mud getting out. Rough sou’wester saw me reign in my ambition, settling for the mid way marker on the outer side of the mussel farms. Slow anch...

Boys weekend on the Bellarine

Spent the weekend just gone with some mates on the bellarine, initially planning golf and surfing. With the southeasterly ruling out surfing, and moderate disorganisation getting in the way of golf, Saturday’s plan involved launching both boats at Ocean Grove and motoring up the river to the Barwon ...
