Cold, windy morning sesh - Stkilda pier

Went out to flick some soft plastics around Stkilda pier this morning, very cold and windy, for the most part I was the only person on the pier. Found fishing's been getting slower with the cooler weather, definitely noticing less hits, that said I still managed a few, caught a couple of salmon (big...

Warmies

Hi again folks, I decided to go for a short session after work today to try out my new heavier Shimano rod and reel. Anyone who has read the previous posts will remember that I have been defeated by a big fish twice now in my light Daiwa outfit. I never connected with any Mulloway but did catch two ...

Sanctuary Lakes breams

This is a little bit of a late report, but I believe the info can be useful. I'm trying to make the report as informative as possible (inspired by Truedogz). Believe it or not, I live in Point Cook (minutes away from Sanctuary Lakes) and this was the first time I fished there. Been living in Point C...

I’ll add some photos and possibly videos, when I get on the pc instead of the iPad. Hopefully these work. Mak...

A recent trip to the Murray

After the passing of my father recently P1280108.JPG a trip away was needed so along with Brett we headed up the river. We arrived early Friday arvo and quickly threw up a camp, IMG_1022.JPG and cut some fire wood. IMG_1026.JPG It was pretty eerie, no boats sighted on the river all weekend, only one...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

30 degrees or over and you have to go fishing right? Them's the rules. Even if you are tired from a 07:00 start. But rules are rules, and being the law-abiding citizen I am, I dutifully headed down the creek, under duress of course. Now contrary to popular belief, the creek doesn't just consist of 4...

Clifton Springs bait collecting

With the exam done and dusted this week I could finally get out for a decent fish this weekend. Clifton Springs was the destination, I was hoping for some whiting but we ended up not really bothering as the boaties we spoke to were only getting small ones. It was a stunning morning, and as we headed...

Re: Reccomend a rod (without micro guides)

Why such heavy braid ? I'm new to the game, I figure something a bit heavier will be more forgiving when getting snagged and the lighter line seems to be harder to untangle and more susceptible to knots. 10lbs braid would be fine - just up your leader to 15-16lbs if you are fishing a weedier spot. ...
