The original Lakes Entrance
An old map showing the original entrance down near Lake Bunga. The entrance channel was through what is now the golf club and sewerage treatment works. The town of Cunningham was where Robin Street and Golf links Rd is. An early report talks about house of Cunningham getting washed into the entrance...

Re: Gummies at the Pines
Paternoster, 6/0 hooks on 60lb mono line. I use 60lb braid for the mainline. A decent snapper rod and reel. I have an overhead reel on one rod and the old egg beater on another. The overhead is the best if you get a big gummy. Mostly use fish fillets for bait. I use a small rod with bait jig to catc...

Re: Gummies at the Pines
Wind drift is the killer, so use a drogue. Tide drift is not so much issue, as you and the burly smell, move together with the tide. Issues you have with anchoring is that you don't catch as many flatties and your burley will drift a long way from you. Anchoring while fishing is for when you have a ...

My 2020/21 trout season run down..
** Sorry guys, have been meaning to put this on the site earlier.. '' The 2020/21 Trout season Report.'' The 2020/21 season seemed to go quick for some reason, it was one that had many ups and downs for me too. I had some top days in the Meander River and small tannin streams where I managed to have...

Re: Mixed bag
So, as there will no doubt be bugger all posted to read over the next few days thought Id scribe a short missive for those who don't have a life and spend far too much time reading Forums such as this one ( I'm guilty as charged). Yesterday my fishing buddy came up from Toongabbie and after a Bairns...

Re: Rock life
This place is so epic, it's sometimes hard to photograph well. The last few days there has not been any fishing, the storm passed but the swell is still pumping 3 metres until tomorrow, so I've had to opportunity to do some bush bashing and picked up some pretty interesting photos. Here is one I too...

Re: Melbourne's worst bream fisherman
Sanctuary lakes bream are by far the easiest to catch in "Melbourne" in my experience. Second would probably be the nong in summer. The area down around lorne is a good place to build some confidence on lures, most of the systems down that way have a large number of smaller fish in them which is gre...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Took two grandies out to Nungurner. There was a break in the wind and rain. Lovely morning not as many boats out today. Dropped anchor and within a minute young Seth is onto a nice KGW. 33cm. Before I could get my rod in he had another. Very busy baiting up kids rods , dehooking fish and coaching th...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Donuts for us today and got soaked into the bargain at the ramp after an early finish to fishtivities. Took the bigger Rae Line 186 out today as I had my better half on board and spent a fair bit of time p%ssing about through the front hatch trying to anchor up whilst protecting the gel coat - not a...
