Re: Trout lures/flies discussion

Was thinking along the lines of redhunter, there are some tweaks yoh can do across the seasons but trout are such you can keep it pretty basic and have some gear to cover all seasons pretty comfortably. So my lure gotos are- gold vibrax spinner #2 or #3, any 7-8cm floating shallow diving hard body t...

Re: Trout lures/flies discussion

Hi Seb Some of the other posts have highlighted seasonal changes in lure selection. What also needs to be considered is the type of water, eg small stream, larger rivers and lakes. There are, in particular, some flies well suited to certain waters, eg willow grubs for the Goulburn. In terms of dry f...

And, maybe, start off with a "gathering" on a Pier with any members that are going for a fish for some squid and build from that. I'm sure if some are...

Re: Anyone could take me fishing for squid please!

Jason if those southern end piers are too far for you to go to, try Beaumaris or even mordialloc piers mate.
I have caught plenty of nice squid from both those piers

Edge rods.

Hi Peoples The local CA store received its first delivery of 'Edge' rods about 3 weeks ago. These rods are made in the US and from what I can tell, Gary Loomis is at the helm. Of course you pay the price! The local store has only baitcast rods in stock at the moment. Two different models of which th...

Re: Edge rods.

I think "worth" is a perspective commodity Jim. All to do with "intrinsic value", "appreciation" and "feel good". I have "decent" but basic (to some but awesome to others) rods & reels. Plus I have to have a few of each, to equip my kids too. I used to criticise the blokes who would spend mega bucks...

Re: Edge rods.

personal opinion and feel of the said rod goes a long way for some. I would back P5 100% with his comment. I have had the opportunity of using a number of Loomis Rods, Wilson Venoms, high end fly rods and over the years reached the conclusion that most of the time good mid range rods match them and...
