KG Hot bite land based 29-11-14

Hi all, had an early fish session for KG Whiting this morning in WPB with a work mate. Beach fishing from 4.30-7.30am. Pipi landed 7 of my whiting and a strip of pilchard got the big one 41cm. The others ranged from 33-37cm. My mate landed 4 and one salmon. Action was hot for a short time 4.45 to 5.30 then fairly quiet only landing a few 26-27cm fish released. After landing the big whiting he jumped around so much on the ground the 2nd hook (wide gap) ended up embedded in my arm. After pushing the hook through a new opening on my arm my mate with pliers removed it. Earlier he got a hook through his thumb nail. First time for both of us getting nail by our hooks. Another good morning on the whiting. Cheers.

yum yum great feed almost got a few at market today while getting some blood bait for tonights trip well done. do you use the heads as snapper baits

Nice feed you got there! :thumbsup: Your hook must be pretty sharp :help: Did you get any bycatch this trip? Usually you have a mullet, LJ etc thrown in for good measure..

@ Shaz, no by catch today. Just premium gold. :lolf: the pilchard bait was for mullet but the big whiting wanted it more. It wasn't my mates morning, he got 1 mullet and as he tried to wash it clean it slipped out of his hand and back into the water. Had no choice with the hook but to push it through until the point came out. Being a wide gap is was a bit tricky 'cause of its shape.

@DougieK. If you mean big pipis cut in half, yes. I had 1/2 a bag of big ones left over and they got me all the fish. Only got small pipis now so i'll see how i go next time.

@Davek. Thanks mate the arm is ok, washed it in the salt water. Keeping an eye on it (infection).

@CA. Everything gets eaten, lol. My mother in law (Greek) cooks them up whole for us and with the father in law they eat all the heads. Most tastiest part they say. I stick to the body meat..

Good catch! Mate at work goes to Stoney Point every Saturday religeously (wife packs his lunch Friday night to make sure he's out of the house haha!) and never comes empty handed. Good eating fish though!
