King George Whiting at Mornington Pier - What's the best bait?

Post by AzCoy7 » Tue Apr 16, 2019 9:00 am

I heard that there are some King George Whiting at Mornington Pier. I've heard that they can be caught on Pipis, and that's what I did on the 15th of April 2019, when I made a visit to Mornington Pier to fish. I did not catch any Whiting; instead all I got was just pinkies.

What is the best bait for King George Whiting? :fish22:

Pippi, mussel, small prawn, sand worm, bass yabbie... look for the grass patches and cast in the sand holes in between the grass patches, whiting may feed at different times of the tides depending on location.

All the ones mentioned above and I have also done well with freshly caught squid and white bait as well.

If they are around I’m sure pinkies will. So will, salmons and whiting :)

Squid, hmm... messy ink, pretty slimy, sometimes gross. But they're excellent bait, I've heard.
