Whiting - Frankston / Olivers Hill

Post by yepi'mon » Wed Dec 14, 2016 3:27 pm

Hi Guys

I know there are few old threads about Whiting around Olivers hill, but wondering if anyone who fishes the area has any updates on whether the fish are there or not?

I am taking my sister out early Friday morning for her birthday and after we have given the snapper a shot early on, we would come back to Frankston/Olivers hill area and try for some whiting or squid. We are short on time so we can't travel to far from the Frankston ramp.

Has anyone heard whether they are about or should we just stick to looking for squid?

Thanks guys :water: :water: :water: :water:

Thanks guys - Had a quick try at Olivers hill at about 8.00am and landed two small squid almost straight away. Had to pick up the sister after that so it was on to snapper (which there were none) until about 10.30. Tried back at Daveys at about 10.45 with no luck but smashed about 5 in 5 minutes at Olivers Hill. I was running seriously late and it was getting seriously dangerous there with the low tide so called it a day (could still see a number of squid in the water).

Can you catch squid off the Jetty? Its a pretty small jetty. But I went there a week ago with my father and caught 40 gar's between us. I saw a kid catch a salmon of a soft plastic. Also can you get whiting now?
Thank you :wt:

The rocks at olivers hill can be productive for whiting but Frankston area definetley isn’t the best place for consistent whiting one day they might be their the next they won’t all you can do is try

Generally you can catch squid off all the piers in Mornington Peninsula.
