Shipping a rod

Post by Basti » Mon Jul 25, 2016 9:31 am

Hi all
I need to get a surf rod to NSW. Can't send through Australia post as it's in a pvc tube 1920x90mm which is too big. How do I do this?

Is startrack any good?

Cheers
Niroj

I've never sent but have received several tubes longer than yours via Startrack and they've always been prompt.

Star track shipped my rod from mo's recently. Was good enough.

Get some foam. Like those cheap foam mattresses. Cut a few 30mm thick lengths off it around 30-50cm long depending on the tube. Roll them over your rod in one place and tape it over. Then just slide it into the pvc tube. The more foam you use the better. Won't move whatsoever and it will need the tube to be actually broken before the rod breaks inside.

Nah this is a return of a damaged item so it's going back exactly as it arrived. It came via startrack. They'll be paying postage too.

It seems that I need to create an account with them (startrack) first but I dunno if it's for individuals or businesses. I'll call and find out

One of the draw backs of buying rods online, reels and things you can return with out much fuss but rods are a pain in the ass to return ! Dinga recently replaced a travel rod tube for me, all they wanted was pictures of the damage, they sent me a new tube and said to keep the damaged tube ! I love dealing with those guys..

The last two rods i've ordered have arrived in PVC pipe.

Cam has looked into it for a rod he's building with JCcustoms, probably has a direct answer for you.

The shop should be able to pre book a con note and pick up address, you should just have to pack and give to the shipping company.

If it's going via Star Track or Toll you'll definitely need a consignment number which if they're paying postage they should've assigned you already. All you'll need to do is give your pick up address and they'll schedule a driver to collect.

Sounds like it's going via Aus Post if they haven't provided you with a consignment number and you shouldn't have to create an account. Call the buyer and ask for the connote details.

waiting on a reply from the seller (sneakyfisho). they've already apologised and are going to replace. Their website asserts that if i provide a shipping receipt then they will reimburse. But for one thing, i cant be bothered to set up an account like you guys say and for another, they've only provided a PO Box as the return address which most companies won't ship to.
