Indeed I would out Wayne at Southern sports fishing. If you are after a specialist squid rod then there are many places to buy from over seas. For example I purchased my majorcraft x-ride from plat. Shimreels out of Singapore for evergreen rods and have had friends use rakutan from Japan for rods as well. Rui also has a rod he designed which is worth a look in for casting the heavier jig ranges.

Thanks guys. decided to get the daiwa emeraldas, the reel and the rod.
it seems that amazon japan ships to Australia(that least the reel) now so thats good.
But after having to jump all these hoops looking for a reasonable seller, i wonder why shimano and daiwa wont release their own shop.
might be because it would kill all other retails lol

Re: Where do you buy your fishing gear?
You'll like the Emeraldas, I have two interline versions and they're great for sensitivity and range. The reels need slightly more maintenance as compared to say, a current model Shimano Stradic but (imo) feels nicer especially the drag.
