Landbased eden

Post by Matthew drako » Wed Jan 16, 2019 6:15 pm

Hey all,
Heading up to Eden on Saturday for a week and will look to do some landbased fishing(not off rocks). Will be targeting bread and butter species such as trevally, salmon, tailor and pinkies on bait but will also look for some squid. Any general reports or tips for around the area(willing to travel up to Merimbula) will also throw a livie out as I know there are plenty around the piers.
Will keep you’s posted about the highlights of the trip

Just got back from that area, didn't do very well unfortunately. A few small salmon on bait and spinning off the beach, went down to the wharfs (Merimbula and Tathra) they were packed and didn't see much happening. Tried a few other spots for donuts. Lovely area but the fishing did not impress me much.

Surprised to hear that...my experience up there was awhile ago but plenty of action. Didn’t want to leave.

Yeh I went to north Tura beach three times, early morning on the incoming tide, first morning had three small salmon, second day nil, third day a micro and a small salmon. A big trawler boat came very close to the coast and deployed his net, was very surprised it was allowed in NSW. Certainly spoiled the perfect view spinning from the beach.

Sorry to hear you didn't get many fish.
Normally it's a great spot

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully I can get onto them especially off the navy wharf and Eden wharf which is closest to where I’m staying

Try the beach behind Eden cemetery; suss out the channel during the day and go an hour before sunrise with surf gear, cured pillies for bait - great tailor/salmon action every time...
