Yep as the title says seems the voice of fishers is pretty strong and i bet that this is gonna cause some hurt for rowers since fishers spend more in victoria then they would https://transportsafety.vic.gov.au/mari ... arra-rules

Do the rowing clubs or any attached organisations have a public stance or made any statement?

Why isn't the maximum speed not dropped ? those rowers go to fast with no chance of stopping quickly at the speed they travel !
That should stop many accidents... Oh and someone steer the dam thing looking forward not backwards !
He who has the most fishing rods WINS ! :ts:

Fine tie the skiff to the bank or jetty and row as hard and fast as they like !
that way they are a menace to no one and still training hard to race.

I think restricting rowing to maybe one bank of the river would be a good idea. It’s a public water and a shared space.
Someone’s got the right to go backwards at breakneck speed if they wish to. Just got to get a lane system going. Pick the side with the least structure, that’s what they’d want.
We’d want the structure.
It won’t be perfect but it’s a Compromise .

My two cents.
There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.

But breakneck speed, shouldn't be allowed if there is speed restrictions for everyone else, should it?

Long story short, The proposed changes were intended to put in place formal laws around the rowers and where they could turn etc.

At no stage did they consider the effect on rec boaties/yakkers. Once made aware the number of yakkers and boaties that use the area they are going back to the drawing board.

True Brett.
But if that’s what the sport demands than maybe a lane system for their and our safety to.
I’m sure a Rower doesn’t want to hit somebody as much as we want to get by a rower.
I agree it’s a complex issue though. Needs some contemplation.

Its somewhat laughable a government department is so stupid to not consider ALL stakeholders when they put forward plans almost set in concrete
