Queens bday long weekend fishing trip ideas?

Post by bigdan91 » Tue May 31, 2016 8:20 pm

Anyone recommend some locations with good fishing and camping for the upcoming long weekend?

Will be landbased, can be accessed by 4wd. Max 6 hours from melb, leaving friday night back tuesday night

Shortlist so far is -

Robe-beachport SA (good surf fishing, 4wding on beach)
Lake tyers (know a good campsite and have caught lots of bream there)
Vic high country (more 4wding and can try trout fishing which I haven't done much of)
Eildon? probably be busy

Maybe somewhere near otways?

Skip eildon, was super busy last year and will most likely be this year too. If you're able to hold off a bit until the long range forecasts are they could help you make your decision.
I'll add wonboyn/greencape area to your list, haven't been there myself but it's very high on my list of places to visit.

Cheers Alex

Vic high country is going to be freaking freezing.
I'd head to the NSW south coast to be honest.

Loddon river around serpentine to bears lagoon is another option dunno about how productive the fishing will be though.
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!
