When I did a road trip from Melbourne to Sydney around this time last year, I stayed in Lake Entrance for a couple of days, in Merimbula for a couple of days and then in Jervis Bay for a couple of days. These locations offer a varity of options for accomodation with reasonable prices. I am not a big fan of motel or hotel, but holiday house with full cooking facilities. years ago when i went Merimbula, we fished off the surf mostly great places to fish.
cant remember the main beach in Merimbula. we fished off but tathra did produce well.
we stayed at Capri motels, great place, nice and quiet.
