Harpoons

Just been given these 3 Harpoons as a gift.Old guy moving house near me .
They look like 3 types of Harpoons they are about 7 foot long
I've never seen a real harpoon before
Does anybody know anything about these or can they put me in the right direction for some info

The whaling information centre in Albany WA might have some info for you (there are probably still pockets of info in Portland and Warrnambool as well, but I know the Albany centre/museum is active and dedicated to whaling). Those are awesome gifts, by the way - a fantastic slice of history.

Great relics from the past. They are whalers harpoons.

Just type whalers harpoons into google and you'll get a whole heap of information.

Centre one - Used to initially harpoon whale - Had rope with buoy attached so that they could follow whale
Left hand one - Used to Kill Whale
Right Hand One - Has sharpened blade on Straight Edge - Used to butcher Whale

Put them in your rod holders next time you go out....that should rev up the greenies
