Wrasse For Bait?

Post by GoodFriendToadie » Sat Sep 02, 2017 12:14 pm

Is wrasse a good bait for snip snaps (snapper)?
I catch em all the time, ones that are legal size, they don't have much use towards me so just wondering if they're good bait.

Cheers ;-)

Ive caught a gummy on a chunk of a parrotie before. Put it out as a bit of a joke as i didnt have any salmon or couta.
Was a keeper gummy, not a big 1 but it shows that gummies eat them.

I was like you, catch a million of them whikst fishing for big leatherjacket. The other thing i do qith the small parroties is put them on a squid prong under a float. Caught some big squid and cuttlefish on them

This was asked in the other post about baits for snapper. I would say no. I wouldn't even bother trying them to be honest. Not saying they wouldn't work but plenty of other baits that are much better

Not sure but be aware that they have a size limit of 27 cm, bag limit of 5.
