Barometer readings

Guys,
I have never checked the barometer ever when I have been fishing, Recently Ive just come across a few articles on the web and they all mention barometer charts when fishing for snapper amongst other fish
Is this something many of you do??
If so is there a website or an app that can give me the reading or numbers im after?
Also does the reading need to be from the specific area you want to fish, or just a general area reading will suffice?
Ive looked up barometer apps, and they get the reading from the phone sensor, so that means its reading my current location, not where I want to fish.
Any help appreciated.

It is by far the most accurate weather app (in conjunction with using met eye) that I have used and will give you barometer predicitons for the area you choose.

We always try to fish on a rising / high barometer, especially for snapper. I've found that any experienced fisherman will generally do / tell you the same.

I remember a video by Brendan Wing where he was going on about the rising barometer being gold. He had a barometer on his watch.

I go off baywx, real time wind / temp / barometer readings, accurate enough to see whats happening.

The theory is the lower the pressure the more uncomfortable the fish become due to the increased pressure on the swim bladder. The apparent best pressure for fishing is a steady 1020 which is where the old "10 and 20 fish a plenty" saying comes from.

Ive caught fish on rising and falling barometers, time on the water is much more important than worrying about barometric pressure

Purple I tend to fish when time allows and the weather is suitable but still keep an eye on the barometer.

Low pressure and High pressure systems that you see Jane Bunn talk about on the news relate to the barometer.

A low pressure system is associated with poor weather and the barometric pressure drops a high is typically good weather and has a higher barometer. Rising Barometers from a low to a high and a change in pressure prior to a low can be the best time to go fishing.

another vote for fish ranger. I go fishing on any barometer, but if it's rising, or high, or just starting to drop, my expecteations are higher. If i donut, a low barometer is just one of many excuses i can choose from instead of admitting i don't have a clue most times haha

ill download this fish ranger app and see what its like.
im still going to go regardless of what the barometer says, but always handy to have some extra info.

bowl, does that site have a option for melbourne/southern areas?
