hey guys, I've been picking and choosing when to go because of the wind, i have a 5.5 m boat but i was wondering what is the absolute max km/h you would go out in. tomorrow is 35km at warneet is this too much? :oops:

Direction is as much of an issue as speed. Easily fishable if it's a northerly. Absolutely garbage if it's southerly unless you want to punch into to sheltered waters behind French island then have similar issues coming in

If in doubt don't go out.

You obviously are unsure if you should be going or not so there is your answer. If it was blowing 40kts SE and I said nah you will be right just go would you? Make your own assessment whether you should on the water not bank on going just because someone said you will be ok.

Your boat will handle it no doubt. BUT, if you're in doubt, don't go out. I have fished those waters in stronger winds (which was foolish) and as Cobby said, you need to find shelter! Just remember, you have to punch through it to get back. It ain't nice

I wouldnt go out in anything iver 16km

Start slow, don't rush into it as that's when you'll get into trouble

For fishing i agree....over 15kms and its not that ennoyable

I still fish in it but its when its forced upon me.

Theres areas I fish close to shore in moderate winds but 50% of the time I look for less than 15kms
